"Hello - I'm Nancy Fram - Vice President Professional Affairs and Chief Nursing Executive here at Hamilton Health Sciences and it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Hamilton Health Sciences Nursing Internet Site. Nursing at Hamilton Health Sciences is comprised of both Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses with a total complement of close to 3,400 strong! Nurses play an integral role in providing highly specialized patient and family centered care within all areas of our hospital - in supporting the individual to gain the highest level of health possible or supporting care at the end of life - consistently ensuring that the individual's family is involved to the greatest extent possible. All nurses at Hamilton Health Sciences are supported to enact the domains of nursing - practice, education, research and leadership regardless of their role or position as staff nurse, education and development clinician, advanced practice nurse, nurse practitioner, clinical manager, director or chief of nursing practice. Each and every nurse at Hamilton Health Sciences makes a unique contribution to our mission of providing excellent health care for the people and communities we serve and the advancement of health care through education and research. They are supported by the strong nursing leadership team at HHS that provides strategic direction for practice, education and research, and promotes a shared leadership for nursing at HHS. We are creating and sustaining positive, healthy work environments that provide nurses with opportunities for professional growth and development throughout their careers. There are many opportunities for our nurses to become involved in our organization through unit based activities, our Nursing Advisory Council, or involvement in our nursing corporate initiatives. We actively support ongoing professional development through our Health Professional Tuition program and annual nursing bursary awards. We are fortunate to have strong academic partners right here in Hamilton - McMaster University and Mohawk College. As such nurses can obtain cross appointments with the school of nursing and collaborate with the nursing faculty to conduct nursing research. We offer over 1,000 clinical placements to nursing students at the graduate and undergraduate level annually.
